Murray J Armes

Murray Armes is a Chartered Architect, chartered arbitrator, adjudicator, accredited mediator and expert witness and practising architect and is a director of Probyn Miers Limited.  Alongside his continuing involvement with architectural projects, he undertakes architectural consultancy in dispute resolution as an expert witness, adjudicator and dispute board member.  He has given evidence at the TCC in the High Court in London and the London Valuations Tribunal.

He is on the adjudication panels of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Royal Institute of British Architects, on the FIDIC President's List of international adjudicators and is the UK country representative for the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation.  He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, a full professional member of the Academy of Experts and a Fellow of the Dispute Board Federation (Geneva).

Murray has over 25 years experience in the construction industry with an involvement both in small scale projects up to multi-million pound developments.  Before founding his own practice in 1990 he worked for a number of practices and was involved in projects up to £100m in the UK and abroad consisting of buildings and commercial interior projects. 

His project experience includes residential, hotel, care sector, commercial, industrial, sports and leisure, rail and retail buildings as well as commercial interiors and an unusual bridge scheme.  He has worked on projects in the UK, Spain, France, Kuwait, Dubai, Oman, Yemen and Hong Kong, including both new build and refurbishment.  He has a reputation for innovative and pragmatic architectural solutions whilst being sensitive to the client’s programme and budget and has a verifiable track record of avoiding disputes.
