Restoration of a luxury house in Notting Hill
Owned by an order of nuns, this house had been used as a school and accommodation for children and had seen hard use and little repair. Changing circumstances meant that the school was no longer needed and it was decided to refurbish the house to offer for corporate rental.
Much of the limited budget went into structural and fabric repairs. The stairs were strengthened, the external walls were strapped and almost every room was taken back to bare structure and re-plastered. The original parquet floor on the ground floor was restored an contributes greatly to the overall character of the house. Elsewhere high quality joinery and bathroom and kitchen fittings were installed to create a home of the quality expected by companies renting in this market.
